Pablo Neruda is poet not-so-well known in the U.S. as he is in the rest of the world. Here’s a link to some info and some translated poems. I wrote this after

An Afternoon with Pablo Neruda

Spent I this day lost in a dream of words, of rivers and laughter.
Lost I my way in their beauty,
Two tongues, one well I know and
the other more a beloved stranger,
Known in my heart, yet less known in my head

You helped me to lose my way amongst the river stones
Traced by phrases of love and longing, death and loneliness

I searched for phrases to make myself known to you
A hint of a smile to bring to your eyes
The caress of a word in your ears

Yet, the poet whose words made me weep,
Had no words that seemed fit to fill the empty page you now see littered with lines

So with his phrases and rhythms,
Con sus ritmos y frases,
His visions and landscapes of love
Sus vistas y paises del amor
I have left these words on the shore of your sea
Estas palabras me ha dejado en su orilla del mar

Until next National Poetry, Happy April. May it end well.
